the move

 the move (Bengali)

My first short film. I dreamt of it. And it finally happened. I shot it with my very low-rez camcorder. So the quality is not good enough according to my expected standard. In fact, it's quite bad. But it's ok for net viewing, I guess.

The central character is an old veteran politician which is played by my father, Ajit Mukhopadhyay. My father is the greatest actor I have seen live. He's never got his due. He gave his life for his art. His death scene here can be compared with any set standard.

The son is Joy, my closest friend. His blunt expression goes tremendously well with the cold-blooded character. Some people find his acting weird. But that's what I wanted from him.

The other character is played by my dear friend Dhritiman. He's never acted before in his life. This is his debut in every sense of the word.

Everything about the film, be it story, script, direction or post-production, is done by single-handedly. I've done any course in filmmaking or in editing. I've learnt EVERYTHING on my own with trial and error. If you find any amateurish effort somewhere, it's my ignorance, sometimes limitation.

If you find my work exciting somewhere, it gives me more courage to kiss the sun.
